Lakshadweep - Emerald Islands

Lakshadweep, literally meaning a hundred thousand islands, is a cluster of tiny masses of land etched like glittering emeralds in varying hues of turquoise blue expanse of sea that surround them. Built on ancient volcanic eruptions, there are a total number of 36 islands of which only 10 are inhabited, the other yet to experience the buzz of human activity. Kavarrati Beach
The capital of Lakshadweep, Kavarrati offers the visitors an enchanting destination for a relaxed vacation in the lap of mother nature. The beach is especially known as an ideal point for sunbathing and enjoying a number of thrilling water sports. The marine aquarium and Dolphin centre are popular tourist joints of the place. Take a ride in the glass bottomed boats to observe myriad variety of colorful marine species.

Kalpeni Beach
The enchanting beach is flocked by a huge number of tourists encompassing the isles of Pitti and Tilakam and the uninhabited Cheriyam. The huge chunks of coral islands were created as a result of huge boulders being thrown in a storm around 1847. Major tourist activities include paddling the reef, boating and sailing.

Minicoy Beach
The minicoy beach, located on the souther island is a crescent shaped enchanting beach known to house one of the largest lagoons. The beach offers excellent facilities for tourists such as bathing huts, water sports etc. The Lava dance and the local boat races are some of the not to be missed events.

Kadmat Beach
The beach with its 8 km long shoreline is a heaven for both adventure and leisure travellers with innumerable opportunities such as scuba diving and sun bathing. The place is also excellent for observing marine life with its clear waters providing ideal opportunities to spot the multi-colored creatures of the sea.
