Bangalore was founded by Kempegowda during the early part of the 16th century. The city first came into limelight and became a prominent fortress under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. The Lalbagh Botanical Gardens (part of the itinerary) is one among the very few remains from that golden period.
