Day 06: Mahabalipuram - Tanjore
Leave for Tanjore after having breakfast at the
hotel. Tanjore is situated at a distance of 309 km from Mahabalipuram, a
distance which can be covered in approximately 7 hrs. Reach and relax at
the hotel.
The ancient city of Tanjore is the former capital of the Chola kings, whose origins can be traced back to the Christian era. Proceed for a sightseeing of Tanjore. Visit the Brihadeeshwara temple and Fort. Built by Raja Raja, this World Heritage Monument is a crowning glory in the Chola temple architecture. The dome on top of the apex and the enormous Shiva lingam make it an enchanting place and worth a visit again and again. Visit the beautiful art gallery near by. The place is also known for its silk.
