typical Rajasthani breakfast will be served at the hotel. Proceed to
Jodhpur. The 284 km (5 hrs) journey by road is an exotic experience
introducing you to the imperial beauty of the desert. The villages in
this part of the country are comparatively less developed and people
continue to live in thatched roof houses.

Set at the edge of the THAR Desert, the imperial city of Jodhpur echoes
with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. Once the capital
of the Marwar state, it was founded in 1459 AD by Rao Jodha-chief of the
RATHORE clan of Rajputs who claimed to be descendants of Rama - the epic
hero of the RAMAYANA. The massive 15th century AD Mehrangarh Fort looms
on the top of a rocky hill, soaring 125 Mts. above the plains. The city
is encompassed
by a high wall -10 km long with 8 gates and innumerable bastions.
In the afternoon visit Mehrangarh Fort (1459 AD) commissioned by Rao
Jodha. Here you will witness beautiful miniature paintings and a cradle
room. After this we head for the Jaswant Thada Memorial.
Overnight will be at Jodhpur.
