Day 09 : Kovalam - Kanyakumari - Kovalam
Savour a sumptuous south Indian treat at the
hotel.
Full day excursion to Kanyakumari, Enroute visit Padmanabhapuram Palace
- built in typical travancore architectural style, it is famous for the
beautiful murals, carved mahogany ceiling and the special black shiny
floors and Suchindram Temple - rich in its sculptural and architectural
content, the one of a kind temple is dedicated to three different
deities.
Reach Kanyakumari and proceed for a visit to the major attractions
which lay hidden in the lap of this south Indian splendor.
Kumari Amman Temple - The temple is picturesquely located overlooking
the shores. According to legend, this is the place where devi did
self-abasement to marry Lord Shiva. On being unsuccessful she vowed to
remain a virgin.
Gandhi Memorial - Next to the temple is this beautiful memorial where
the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were stored until immersed in the waters.
Suchindram Temple - The temple situated at a short distance from the
city is famed for its musical columns and the giant statue of the monkey
God, Hanuman.
Drive back to Kovalam in the evening.
