According to popular belief, the legendary prince Rama decided to dry up the ocean to make his way to Lanka. Before he could play his magic, the ocean God appeared and begged for mercy, to which Rama shot his arrow to a distant location and dried up another sea...giving rise to today's Thar desert! The thrill of roaming an exotic land, the wrapping sand dunes, thorny bushes and hot sand mountains along with majestic forts and palaces that rise in tears like a golden mirage, make the desert a preffered haunt for tourists and adventurers from across the globe.

Life in the Desert

The people are extremely hospitable and greet the guests with a warm smile, in spite of the harsh climatic conditions they have to deal with. The primary occupation and means of livelihood of these people are cattle and other livestock rearing.
