Presently this beautiful structure houses both legislative chambers of the State Government. This building has become a sort of identity of the city and as such is a major tourist attraction. Cubbon Park : Laid out in 1864, Cubbon Park has been named after Lt. General Sir Mark Cubbon who was the designer of the park. The park is spread over an area of around 120 hectares and has lush green plants and trees. Numerous fountains and statues enhance the beauty of this park. The park houses a red Gothic structure known as the Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall.A public library is housed in this hall that provides books on various topics for the benefit of readers. The High Court, the Government Museum, the Technology Museum, the Govt. Aquarium and the Jawaharlal Bal Bhavan- all major tourists attraction are also found in this park. Bagh : Bangalore is known as the Garden city because of
its numerous beautiful gardens. It is therefore a must for all the
tourists to visit the lovely gardens of the city. One such garden
visited by tourists in large number is the lal Bagh . Laid out by Hyder
Ali in 1760, the garden is spread over an area of 240 acres. Apart from
various colourful trees and plants, the beauty of the garden is
increased by Kempegowdas watch towers, a lawn surrounded by Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs, an decorative clock, a beautiful lake and a
glasshouse that reminds of the Crystal Palace in London. The garden is
impressive and a definite picnic spot. Even a walk here is relaxing for
any tourist.Tipus Palace : Tipus Palace is one of those structure in Bangalore that is often frequented by tourists specially those who have an interest in the historical past of the city. Built in 1791, this summer retreat of Tipu Sultan was also called Rashk-e-jannat' - the Envy of Heaven. The two-storied elegant wooden structure now houses a museum containig artefacts belonging to the era of HyderAli and Tipu Sultan.Though, now the building is not as grand as the original, still it is worth visiting once. Gavi Gangad Hareshwara Temple : Bangalore is also known for its temples.Prominent among these temples is the Gavi Gangad Hareshwara temple.This cave temple was constructed during the reign of Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore and is dedicated to lord Shiva. Hence the significance of the temple is immense. However what attracts devotees and tourists alike is a unique occurance every year. In the month of January, on the auspicious occasion of Makarsankranti, a ray of sunlight passes through the horns of the bull Nandi which is situated outside the temple and lights up the Gavi Ganagadareshwara idol inside the cave.
